La Frontera
A fully static, editorially designed online magazine for U.S.–Mexico relations — built as a publication, not an app.
Editorial + build lead — U.S.–Mexico Relations final project, GWU. Launched May 2026.
The problem
Turn a semester of raw team submissions — documents, audio, images — into a coherent, permanent, publicly hosted publication with a consistent design language.
Technical approach
Astro with typed content collections for articles and podcasts, MDX for prose, Tailwind for the editorial system. Fully static output deployed by rsync to nginx, fronted by Cloudflare with apex canonicalization.
Technical highlights
- The range entry on the roster: editorial design and information architecture, shipped with the same deployment discipline as the systems work.
Why it matters here
For design-minded audiences: proof the systems engineer can also ship a publication.
